Good

Grocely understaffed even though the room and the ambience was good. Quality of service let much to be desired one had to wait for a cup of coffee minimum 20 mins. The room bell was not working and the distance between our room and reception was very far and no intercom connection was provided. On the day of checking out as there was a power cut & the geyser was not working on gen set we requested for 2 buckets. Hot water which was not provided and finally I had to take bath in cold water in the morning since I had planned a visit to religious place. OVERALL I WOULD RATE MY STAY AT WOODY's was PATHETIC

Excellent

We reached the resort at around 7:30 PM. It was dark and outdoor lighting arrangement was missing. Due to last few days rain (it seems), the approach inside the resort was muddy. However we were guided by a service boy to our room and we liked the room. It was spacy, having wooden floor. The bathroom was clean and having hot water service which was quite useful as temperature at that time was quite low. There was no intercom connection and difficult to call the service boy. Only communication was through mobile. We asked for additional blankets and were provided promptly. Night stay was quite comfortable. we liked the outside ambience and garden in the next day morning. However it was not maintained properly, may be due to off season. Back up power connection was not provided intially, however it was connected after we asked for. The resort was around 1.5 kM away from the central location of the city. Overall it was a nice stay, may be it will be more confortable during peak season as i

Superb

The reception at the Hotel when we completed our Hectic long travel was wonderful and soothing. We did not feel that we are checking in and checking out from the resort but we completely felt at HOME. Thanks to the Manager Mr. Lingam as well as the our villa care taker Mr. Sherif. Food was excellent and homely and we did not feel any trouble with the same. Though the villas were looking to be isolated from the rest of the so called busy(!) town, (which deliberately we preferred for a peaceful stay anyway)the people at the resorts were very friendly. Few suggestion for further improvement: A music system can be provided at the Rooms for further betterment. Room Heater can be provided as a part of the Room facility (at Night the mercury goes far below reference at times) Phone facility at the villas. Rent-a-car/Bike can be provided(I did not ask for and I do not know whether available now). Otherwise, the 3 Nights/4 days were quite memorable. Bravo!

The quality of service is not at all commensurate with the price charged. There is no telecom in the rooms & the calling bells do not work. I needed to call from my personal mobile to the Woodland's office & then ask for any service. I would not ever suggest any one to visit this resort.

Nice ambience but poor quality of service. Only the dining menu is finely layed out. Most of the dishes are not available. Dont just go by the Woodys reputation.I think the Woodys in Kodai is something out of the world. Overall a disappointing stay for the amount of money I payed(2500 Rs/day)You can much better hotels for the same amount in Kodai.

We decided to book a resort in Kodai this summer and one glance at photos and description of woodland resort made us go for it. When we reached the resort, we were in a state of shock and surprise. the photos of the resort we saw on the website looked totally different to what was in front of our eyes. What we saw was an ancient looking structure with dilapidated floors, archaic tables and chairs unsteady on their legs, dirty floor mats. No reception area or desk to receive the guests( its the kitchen where u have to report once u get to the resort!)There was no phone in cottages, only buzzer. You buzz for room service that takes ages to reach you though the staff were friendly, I feel the whole set up needs a total revamp if this resort wants to survive in this business ........

Not bad, for us it was just for a overnight stay & the preference given by the reception was excellent. The hotel is in a beautiful land with landscapes and garden with playing area for kids.

1. no intercom phone in the room. 2. room was not cleaned on dialy basis 3. breakfast was not complimentary as in other hotels. 4. the actual name of the hotel is 'woodys', nobody in kodaikanal knows it by the name 'woodlands resort' 5. the hotel is costlier against the facilities provided. 6. no generator backup as there is a load shedding in kodaikanal from 8am to 11am. 7. location and surroundings of the hotel is good.

As I drove down from Chennai to Kodaikanal, I felt that the hotel is at heart of the city. We passed kodai lake, and the silver velly before finally landing up at the resort. But the good thing about the location is that the resort is full of greenary. The road on which the resort is not neat and clean. We found that the renovation is must for road as well as for hotel. The resort can be best if maintained properly. On the whole, the resort is a average, there are other hotel which are better than this. Resort is a good option for the budget traveller and for short stays..

I visited Kodai with my family (6 members 1 child). The good thing about my trip to this resort was, we booked two deluxe cottages with extra bed (for 6 persons) and they gave us a suite cottage. There is lot of open space and greenery in the resort, though the maintenance could be better. Suite was good. The only negative thing is room service is not prompt at all. We ordered tea and we got it after waiting of 1 hr that too after three reminders. Also the suite was not ready with extra beds, which we got only in late evening. Food quality is average. Mostly south indian fare. Overall experience is good.
